Kira-kira (japanese), means “glittering”, a word Katie and Lynn liked to use to describe all the subtle wonders.
Things were great, and the devotion to one another – between the girls and among the family – was beyond great. Everything was kira-kira. Even seemingly less so – after Lynn fell seriously ill, and eventuall passed – the family’s going through the grief, and wot they gained from it, is more than just kira-kira.
Kira-kira is beautiful, just as dolce is sweet.
This is an understatement about the book.
